Pray for Clean Water

“He turns a wilderness into pools of water, and dry land into watersprings.” —Psalm 107:35 So often in the Holy Scriptures, God uses water to illustrate who He is and what He does for us. He compares His blessing to streams for dry ground, describes His Spirit as water for a thirsty man and calls Himself the “fountain of living waters” (Isaiah 44:3; Jeremiah 2:13). Just as God blesses, satisfies and gives us life, water has the power to bring fruitfulness to our communities, refreshment to our thirst and life to our bodies. Yet, in many places throughout Africa and Asia, precious people are living in “dry lands” and have yet to experience the gift of abundant, clean water. Their knowledge of the Living Water—and the wholeness its Giver brings—is even more limited. This month, will you join us in asking God to bring water and hope to those still waiting in a “dry land”?

Millions of people in Africa and Asia do not have access to safe drinking water. Sometimes people travel for miles on foot to get clean water to use at home for everyday needs. Even after traveling all this distance, the water they take home often makes them sick because of waterborne diseases.

GFA World provides clean water to communities in need through Jesus Wells. One Jesus Well can provide fresh, clean water to an average of 300 people a day. These wells provide not just safe water, but an opportunity to hear about the Living Water.

But none of this would be possible without God and your prayers. Please, would you join us in praying for clean water and those who need it most?

Jesus told the Samaritan woman at the well, “‘Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life’” (John 4:13-14). This verse is written on a plaque nearby every Jesus Well, which gives our missionaries opportunities to share the love of Christ with those who have not yet heard. Like the Samaritan woman, many people who read that verse wonder what it means and who is this “Jesus” who said it. Now they have the opportunity to not only learn of this love, but to partake of it.

Please pray for good interactions and open hearts for those who come to draw water from Jesus Wells. Pray that God will give our missionaries and pastors a supernatural love for the people who come to every Jesus Well. Pray that these people will also drink of the Living Water and experience God’s goodness.

God has a deep love for all His children. He wants to provide for them, and He wants them to know how much He loves them. Jesus Wells allow people to experience and feel God’s love for them by providing for their physical needs.

Please pray that people who benefit from our clean water projects will see that it is God providing for them. Pray that as people drink from Jesus Wells that they will understand how much God loves them.

Since so many people in Africa and Asia need clean water, leaders must decide where to drill wells. They often hear about entire villages being negatively affected by consuming contaminated water. The leaders and missionaries need wisdom on how to best distribute available resources.

Please pray that God will guide the leaders and missionaries on where to provide clean water. Ask God to give them wisdom in every decision.

A Jesus Well can last up to 20 years! This is incredible, and the communities who receive each well take responsibility to maintain it and ensure longevity. However, storms and natural disasters can damage the wells and make them unusable.

Please pray that the equipment will last even longer than its expected time. Pray that it will be maintained without any destruction from storms or natural disasters and function like it should so it can benefit generations to come.

Even though GFA World has drilled thousands of wells, a great need remains. Still, many people must walk for miles to find clean water, while countless others have no choice but to use a contaminated source. Many precious people are in desperate need of clean water, but God can help us provide a solution to their distress.

Please pray for God to provide the resources necessary for those we serve to have clean water. Pray that God will stir people’s hearts to be excited to give and bless others in this way.
