Pray for People Who Need Blankets and Winter Clothing, Especially Children
Imagine you have nothing to keep yourself warm—no heat, no insulation, no coat, not even a blanket. Each night, you wake up freezing, hugging yourself tightly, desperately trying to retain all your body heat. You know that some of the people in your community will die because they, like you, cannot afford to keep themselves warm. You wonder, “What if I had just one warm blanket?”
This is the reality for many people in Africa and Asia. Without a winter jacket or even a blanket, their lives are at risk in the colder seasons. Please join us in crying out to God for those who need blankets and winter clothing.
Life is hard during the winter in rural, mountainous regions. Crops don't grow well, your water sources freeze solid each night, and some days it is too cold to go outside. A kitchen fire inside the home is usually a family's only source of heat. And in urban areas, people who live on the streets struggle to survive when temperatures drop at night.
Pray that unhoused people and people in mountainous areas will survive this winter. Pray that those in colder climates and those on the streets will receive help to stay warm.
Just as Christ came to be a servant to all, our missionaries commit their lives to serving others. In every way they can, they aim to alleviate the suffering of those they serve. Giving warm clothes and blankets is one way they serve and love those living on the streets and those in mountainous regions, who don't have the resources to stay warm. And GFA missionaries and their families must endure the cold climate alongside the people they serve; they, too, need warm clothing and blankets.
Pray that God will keep our missionaries warm and protect them from sickness as they serve. Pray they will be filled with love for the people they serve. Pray that the Lord will encourage our brothers and sisters and give them abundant joy in serving Him. Pray that our missionaries will imitate Christ.
“Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you?” (Matthew 6:30). Many of the recipients of warm blankets and clothing from our missionaries might not know that there is a God who loves them enough to not only clothe them but also die for them.
Pray that people will see Christ's love through GFA missionaries and through gifts of warm clothing or blankets. Pray that recipients will remember Christ's love every time they see the gifts.
Blankets and winter clothes will always be needed. Many people still go to sleep at night with no heating system and only thin clothes or threadbare blankets to cover themselves. Many people walk outside without warm coats because they can't afford them. Others may have a blanket or jacket that has grown worn and is no longer effective, overdue for replacement. GFA missionaries need the resources and wisdom to continue to provide for those they serve.
Ask the Lord to provide the resources through His people for blankets and winter clothing for the needy. Pray that God will give missionaries wisdom on how to best distribute the gifts.
